Environmental product declarations (EPDs) are quickly becoming essential in today’s business landscape. Whether you’re supplying into the construction sector or looking to meet sustainability demands from global clients, companies increasingly need credible, third-party verified product data to stay competitive.
But developing an EPD requires a life cycle assessment (LCA), technical expertise, and alignment with international standards. For many businesses, especially SMEs, the cost and complexity can feel like a barrier. That’s where the Mentorship Support Grant comes in.
What is the Mentorship Support Grant?
The Mentorship Support Grant, administered by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), provides funding to help local businesses build in-house sustainability capabilities. Delivered by A*STAR’s Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology in partnership with Zevero, the programme combines structured training with practical outputs to establish LCA and EPD expertise.
Participating businesses can receive up to 90% funding, making this one of the most accessible ways to get started with EPDs.
The grant’s funding structure at a glance
- SMEs: Up to 90% of project costs covered
- Non-SMEs: Up to 70% of project costs covered
- Funding Cap: S$25,000 per project
- Project Duration: Typically 3-6 months
Please note: The grant covers capability-building and preparation of draft reports. The final step—third-party verification and formal publication of Environmental Product Declarations—is not included in the grant. However, this can be arranged separately with Zevero at an additional cost of approximately S$500 per EPD.
What you’ll gain from the programme
The grant’s mentor-led programme ensures your organisation walks away with real outcomes:
- Knowledge – Build internal expertise in LCA and EPD development aligned with ISO standards.
- Practical outputs – Prepare LCA studies and draft EPD reports during the project.
- Embed – Learn how to integrate these capabilities into day-to-day operations, strategic planning, and reporting.
By the end of the programme, your team won’t just understand the EPD process; you’ll have tangible outputs and the skills to integrate them into your long-term business strategy.

Why this matters for Singapore businesses
EPDs are increasingly a requirement in the built environment supply chain, including for the Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) Certification Scheme, which demands verified EPDs to demonstrate a product’s global warming potential.
By participating, companies gain not only technical expertise but also long-term business value:
- Market Opportunity – Qualify for tenders that require verified environmental data, and access sustainability-focused clients and markets.
- Competitive Edge – Differentiate your products with credible, data-backed claims instead of unsubstantiated marketing.
- Risk Mitigation – Stay ahead of tightening regulations, reduce exposure to greenwashing allegations, and identify risks in your supply chain.
