Sweep Alternatives & Competitors for UK SMEs

Quick summary

  • Sweep is built for complex organisations. Its customers, framework coverage and implementation partners lean towards large, multi-entity groups, though it also lists Midmarket and Starter options. It does not publish prices.
  • Smaller companies usually need speed, predictable cost and expert help. A credible first footprint, reports for customers, tenders, SECR or B Corp, and sometimes product footprints matter more than enterprise data governance.
  • Several platforms are built for that. Zevero pairs software with in-house experts and a published entry price, Seedling and Persefoni offer free starting tiers, Greenly offers broad automation, and Planet Mark leads with certification.

Sweep is a well-known name in sustainability data management. Its customers include SSE, L'Oréal and Swisscom, and it supports disclosures for CSRD, ISSB and UK SRS. That breadth is a real strength for organisations with many entities and a sustainability team to run the programme.

Smaller and mid-sized companies often start from a different place. A customer has asked for emissions data, a tender needs a Carbon Reduction Plan, or the business is working towards B Corp. There may be no sustainability team at all, and the person responsible is fitting carbon around another job.

This guide explains what Sweep offers, what growing companies usually need, and how five alternatives compare with Sweep.

Is Sweep right for a smaller company?

It can be. Sweep lists Midmarket and Starter options alongside its Enterprise plans. Its named customers, framework coverage and implementation partners lean towards large, multi-entity organisations, and it does not publish prices. Smaller firms should ask how much hands-on expert help is included and how quickly a first footprint is delivered.

What Sweep does

Sweep is a sustainability software platform that describes its purpose as helping companies track and act on their ESG and carbon emissions. Its solutions are split into Enterprise, Midmarket, Financial institutions and a Sweep Starter package.

  • Carbon management across Scope 1, 2 and 3, with a central data platform aimed at audit-ready data
  • Supplier emissions collection, with AI help for supplier data and supply chain risk
  • Sustainability reporting for frameworks including CSRD, ISSB, UK SRS, CDP and California SB 253
  • Decarbonisation strategy, including identifying hotspots and prioritising actions
  • Sweepy, Sweep's AI assistant, built to answer questions with sustainability domain knowledge

Sweep's enterprise page lists Capgemini, KPMG and ERM as sustainability expert partners. Its Starter package covers a first footprint, an interactive dashboard, a first reduction strategy and exportable reports. The Starter page does not state a price or describe the onboarding support included.

What smaller and mid-sized companies usually need

Most growing UK businesses are not preparing a group-wide CSRD disclosure. Their requirements tend to be narrower and more urgent.

  • Speed to a credible first footprint. A customer or tender deadline often sets the timetable.
  • Predictable cost. A published starting price or a clear scope makes budgeting easier.
  • Hands-on expert help. Without a sustainability team, someone needs to check the methodology and explain the results.
  • The reports people actually ask for. SECR for larger UK companies, Carbon Reduction Plans for public-sector bids, B Corp, CDP and supplier questionnaires from larger customers.
  • Product footprints. Food, drink and manufacturing businesses are increasingly asked for product carbon footprints (PCFs) or EPDs, not only a company total.

The best Sweep alternatives for growing companies

Zevero

Zevero is a carbon accounting platform that pairs software with in-house sustainability experts. Expert involvement rises with each plan: on Essential an expert reviews your methodology at setup and key milestones, on Leading the expert stays close to your data, and on Premium the expert co-owns your data and builds your net zero strategy.

Best for: growing companies and multi-division groups, particularly in food and drink, manufacturing and consumer goods, that want one partner for software, product-level data and expert advice as they scale in the UK and abroad.

  • Built to scale: start with Scope 1 and 2, add Scope 3, more sites and new entities as you grow, and report by site, brand or business division with group roll-ups
  • Scope 1, 2 and 3 footprints aligned with the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064
  • ISO 27001-certified information security, with policies and controls set out in our Trust Centre
  • More than software: product carbon footprints from £500 per product, EPDs from £10,000 per product, ESG reporting, B Corp support and decarbonisation strategy consultancy from the same team
  • A global team in London, Singapore and Tokyo, working with organisations in more than 20 countries
  • Reporting for SECR, CDP, B Corp and customer supplier requests, with setup and onboarding included in the subscription

Pricing: Zevero Lite covers Scope 1 and 2 from £1,500 a year. Essential, Leading and Premium are quoted. See all plans.

Things to know: Zevero is rated 4.7 on G2 and received G2's Best Estimated ROI and High Performer badges in Fall 2026. The main plans need a short call for a price, all plans have a one-year minimum term, and Zevero is a smaller company than Sweep, with an integration library that is still growing. Teams that only want self-serve software may not use the full service.

Seedling

Seedling is a UK carbon accounting platform designed for small and mid-sized teams of up to 2,000 employees.

  • A free Starter tier for hotspot analysis on one site
  • Core adds a Scope 1, 2 and 3 footprint, decarbonisation modelling and reports for GHG, B Corp and PPN 006
  • Advanced adds unlimited sites, a detailed net zero roadmap and a dedicated carbon expert

Things to know: the free tier has no expert support, Core includes three expert calls a year, and workshops or in-person meetings cost extra.

Greenly

Greenly is a French platform that says it serves 4,000 clients from SMB to enterprise. It covers carbon accounting, CSRD and VSME reporting, product LCAs and EPDs, and lists SECR, UK SRS and UK ETS among its UK frameworks. Its AI assistant is called EcoPilot.

Things to know: in September 2026 Greenly announced it is joining forces with Normative, the Swedish carbon accounting platform, in a deal reported as an acquisition. Ask how the combination affects plans and support before signing. Greenly does not publish prices.

Planet Mark

Planet Mark is a UK sustainability certification business that says more than 700 organisations use it. Its business certification measures and independently verifies Scope 1 and 2 emissions and key Scope 3 elements, and it offers SECR reporting.

Things to know: Planet Mark leads with certification and a people-led service, supported by its own data platform. It does not publish prices, though it offers a free carbon clinic as a first step.

Persefoni

Persefoni is a carbon accounting platform with a free Pro tier for one user at companies with low to medium complexity. Pro includes Scope 1 to 3 totals, an in-app Copilot and a report builder. Advanced, aimed at enterprise-scale organisations, adds unlimited users and framework-ready reports.

Things to know: the free tier is self-serve. Onboarding help and access to climate experts come through paid add-ons, so budget for those if you have no in-house expertise.

How to choose the right Sweep alternative

Use these questions to narrow the shortlist before booking demos.

  • Why do you need the data? A customer request, an SECR filing, a public tender and a B Corp application each need different outputs. Ask each vendor to show the exact report.
  • Who checks the numbers? Ask whether an expert reviews your methodology, on which plan, and how many hours or calls are included.
  • What will it cost in year one? Include onboarding, add-ons such as product footprints, and any consultancy fees.
  • How long until the first footprint? Ask for a timeline based on a company of your size and data quality.
  • Do you need product footprints? If customers ask for PCFs or EPDs, check these are offered and how they are priced.
  • Will it grow with you? Check that Scope 3, target setting and reduction tracking are available when you need them.

Conclusion

Sweep is built to manage sustainability data across large, complex organisations, and it also offers Midmarket and Starter routes. For many growing companies, the deciding factors are simpler: how fast they get a credible footprint, how much it costs, and whether an expert is on hand to help.

Zevero offers enterprise-grade foundations, including ISO 14064-aligned methodology, ISO 27001-certified security, division-level reporting and a global team across the UK and Asia-Pacific, with the speed, published entry price and hands-on expert support that smaller and mid-sized companies need. It scales with you rather than being sized for a global enterprise from day one.
