Tokyo Metropolitan Government partners with Zevero to accelerate city-wide decarbonisation

Tokyo, Japan [21 October 2025] – The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) has selected Zevero to support its efforts to reduce emissions and accelerate progress towards a net-zero Tokyo. As part of TMG’s FY2025 On-Site Dialogue-Based Startup Collaboration Project, Zevero will provide advanced data visualisation to help track greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across more than 4,000 public facilities. The initiative will play a critical role in helping the city meet its ambitious climate targets while embedding sustainability into everyday operational decision-making.

Empowering action through data

Tokyo has committed to becoming carbon-neutral by 2050, with an interim goal to halve emissions by 2030 compared with levels from the year 2000. To reach these goals, TMG is investing in scalable digital systems that give local teams visibility of their emissions and enable informed, measurable action.

Zevero’s AI-powered platform will bring together thousands of data points across Tokyo’s vast infrastructure, providing a clear and comparable view of emissions performance. By simplifying data collection and analysis, the platform will allow facility managers and policymakers to identify hotspots, prioritise interventions, and monitor progress over time.

Working with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government on such a transformative project is a privilege,” said Shigeo Taniuchi, CEO of Zevero. “Visualising emissions across 4,000 facilities is a complex challenge, but it’s also an important step towards creating a truly data-led model for urban decarbonisation. We’re proud to help Tokyo strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading sustainable cities.”

A model for sustainable cities worldwide

The project is part of Tokyo’s broader effort to strengthen collaboration between the public sector and innovative startups, integrating cutting-edge solutions into city operations. It represents one of the largest examples globally of applying AI and digital infrastructure to public-sector carbon management—a model other cities may look to replicate as they pursue their own net-zero strategies.
