Menicon Collaborates with Zevero to Enhance Global ESG and GHG Management Framework Using AI

Menicon Co.,Ltd. (Head Office: 21-19, Aoi 3, Naka-ku, Nagoya; Director,President and CEO: Koji Kawaura, hereinafter "Menicon") announced acollaboration with Zevero, a global startup supporting decarbonisationmanagement (headquartered in Tokyo, CEO Shigeo Taniuchi, hereinafter"Zevero").

Through this collaboration, Menicon will establish integrated managementof greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (Scopes 1-3) across all global sites and aconsistent management platform  for ESGinformation. This will incorporate international sustainability disclosurestandards, including the SSBJ (Sustainability Standards Board Japan) standardsand the European CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), as aprerequisite for management decisions. This aims to achieve sustainable growthunaffected by regulatory trends and enhance competitiveness in the globalmarket.

Advancing ESG Management to Realise Vision 2030

Menicon operates globally, primarily manufacturing and selling contactlenses. Under the slogan ‘New Vision of "Miru" for the World’ fromour mid-term management plan ‘Vision 2030’, we actively pursue environmentalinitiatives such as recycling plastic materials and developing eco-consciousproducts.

As we continue to expand our business globally, there is a growing needto evolve from a domestic-focused calculation and disclosure framework to acomprehensive ESG management system encompassing our global operations,including overseas subsidiaries. Collaboration with Zevero

Founded in the UK, Zevero has supported companies worldwide, includingthose in countries with advanced sustainability practices. Prior to this collaboration, Zevero has progressively supported Meniconin the following initiatives:

● Implementation of Double Materiality Assessment
● Support for global AI-powered Scope 1-3 emissions calculation
● AI-powered support for ESG questionnaires, including EcoVadis and CDP

Through these initiatives, Menicon is building a robust ESG dataplatform capable of handling practical operations while accounting fordifferences in business scale and regional variations. Moving forward, under aunified global ESG policy, Menicon aims to establish centralised datamanagement platform and a transparent disclosure framework.

Initiatives for Sustainable Growth Beyond Regulatory Requirements

Amid advancing sustainability disclosure standards, particularly inEurope, Menicon is developing its ESG management platform  with a long-term perspective,referencing  CSRD standards as abenchmark rather than merely aiming to comply with specific regulations. Thiswill strengthen trust relationships with investors, customers, and businesspartners, while enabling the quantitative demonstration of the value ofenvironmentally conscious products and operations.
