DNP and Zevero Collaborate to Support Corporate Scope 3 GHG Emissions Reduction
From strengthening supplier engagement to establishing mechanisms for sharing reduction targets

Tokyo, 29 July 2025 – Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP), a recognised leader in environmental impact reduction across a range of industries, and Zevero, a global expert in Scope 3 emissions reduction programmes, have announced the launch of the DNP Supplier Engagement Support Service, designed to help Japanese companies reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across their supply chains. As part of broader efforts to address climate change, companies face increasing pressure to take measurable action on GHG reduction—particularly Scope 3 emissions, which encompass indirect emissions throughout supply chains. However, gathering accurate Scope 3 data remains a significant challenge due to the breadth of required data and the limited availability of specialised resources. The common reliance on industry-average emission factors can also make it difficult to link reduction measures directly to their impacts.
Service Overview and Key Features
Zevero’s GHG reduction programme has been adapted specifically for the Japanese market. Focusing on Scope 3 Category 1 (purchased goods and services), it targets anchor companies within key industries and helps strengthen collaboration with their suppliers. By equipping suppliers with the tools and knowledge needed to implement effective reduction measures, the programme enables faster and broader decarbonisation across the value chain. Under this partnership, DNP will lead needs assessments, initial service design, and supplier training, while Zevero will be responsible for GHG measurement and the development of tailored reduction strategies.
Strengthening Supplier Engagement
The DNP Supplier Engagement Support Service helps suppliers align with the sustainability goals of their anchor companies, fostering true partnership and shared accountability. Support includes supplier-focused workshops and briefings, followed by hands-on assistance with:
- Emissions measurement and planning
- Implementation of reduction measures
- Progress tracking and review
- Timely data provision to anchor companies
This structured engagement model fosters a sustainable framework for continuous improvement, enabling suppliers to contribute meaningfully to emissions reduction efforts across the value chain.
Supplier GHG Reduction Workflow
Phase 1: Converting Data into Actionable Insights
- Data Review - Zevero and DNP evaluate existing emissions data from suppliers to ensure traceability, identify quantifiable improvement scenarios, and confirm verifiable outcomes.
- Analysis - Key emissions hotspots are visualised and prioritised using a dual lens of reduction potential and economic feasibility.
- Planning - Custom measurement plans are developed, including incentive mechanisms, to ensure accurate emissions tracking and supplier buy-in.
- Execution - Plans are executed to capture detailed, product-level emissions data from suppliers, forming a robust foundation for reduction.
Phase 2: Designing and Implementing Reduction Measures
- Improvement - Collected data is compared against KPIs to refine targets and guide the implementation of practical, high-impact reduction measures. For example, hop farmers supplying a brewing anchor company may be advised to optimise fertiliser use or adopt lighter packaging such as cans. Each round of measurement and implementation further improves results. Companies with reliable baseline data may begin directly from this phase.
Future Outlook
DNP and Zevero will extend this service across a wide range of industries, supporting anchor companies in their Scope 3 decarbonisation journeys. In parallel, the partners will develop additional offerings to help organisations not only reduce GHG emissions throughout their supply chains but also enhance brand value and corporate reputation.
