Turning Carbon Data into Better Product Decisions

Completing a Life Cycle Assessment or Product Carbon Footprint is only the beginning. The real value comes from using the results to decide what should change—whether that means selecting a different material, redesigning packaging, engaging a supplier, improving production efficiency or reconsidering how a product is transported and treated at end of life.

However, the option with the lowest headline carbon figure is not always the best business or environmental decision. A change may increase costs, affect product performance, create operational risks or shift environmental impacts elsewhere in the lifecycle. Manufacturers therefore need a structured way to turn carbon hotspots into practical, commercially viable interventions.

In this webinar, Zevero and the Singapore Manufacturing Federation will explore how APAC manufacturers can move from carbon measurement to product innovation. Using practical scenarios, the session will demonstrate how product carbon footprint data can be used to compare design alternatives, prioritise high-impact changes and identify opportunities that support both emissions reduction and business performance.

Attendees will learn how to distinguish meaningful interventions from marginal improvements, bring carbon data into product development and procurement, and translate lower-impact design choices into credible customer claims, tender advantages and stronger market positioning.

• Using scenario modelling before committing engineering or procurement resources
• Avoiding burden-shifting—for example, lighter packaging that increases damage or recycled material that changes product performance
• Converting PCF findings into design briefs and supplier negotiations
• Identifying “no-regret” changes versus expensive changes with little footprint impact
• Turning a lower-carbon design into an EPD, tender advantage or credible product claim

Joan Ng - Sustainability Advisor, Zevero (Moderator)

Kevin Milla -Senior Sustainability Manager, Zevero

Kevin currently serves as a Senior Sustainability Manager at Zevero and is based in Singapore. He has a robust background in environmental research and consulting, specialising in climate and carbon management. Throughout his career, he has developed expertise in life-cycle assessment (LCA), greenhouse gas accounting, reporting, and target-setting across a broad spectrum of sustainability projects.Kevin completed his master’s degree in Environmental Engineering where he researched waste management and air emissions projects in Asia. Before this, he researched and consulted for international organisations providing sanitation and water-saving measures, public health campaigns, and community development for parts of South Asia and Africa.

Kevin has successfully collaborated with a diverse range of clients, including NGOs, educational institutions, multinational corporations, and small to medium-sized enterprises, focusing on industries such as maritime, retail, food and beverage, and manufacturing. His strategic advice has been instrumental in helping organisations devise and implement effective decarbonisation strategies

Jason Tee - Sustainability Consultant, Singapore Manufacturing Federation

Jason Tee is part of the SMF Centre for Sustainability and Resilience (CSR) team. Through one of its flagship initiatives, the Chief Sustainability Officer-as-a-Service (CSOaaS) Programme, Jason supports companies in carbon tracking, sustainability reporting, sustainability roadmap development and the practical implementation of sustainability initiatives. Prior to joining SMF, Jason served as a Business Advisor at an SME Centre supported by Enterprise Singapore, where he worked with more than 200 companies on grant advisory, business transformation and capability upgrading.

Through his work, Jason focuses on helping SMEs take practical, business-relevant steps towards sustainability readiness, enabling them to meet customer requirements, seize tender opportunities and drive long-term business transformation.
