💫 Meet The Team - Hookyung Kim

In this blog post, we introduce Hookyung Kim, Zevero’s Head of Consulting in Japan.

What inspired you to work in the decarbonising business?‍

It started with a simple thought I had when I was a kid that I wanted to do something to make the world a better place. It did not connect with decarbonisation then and was more about humanitarian work – helping others! As I continued my study to major in Environmental Science in college and learnt more about our planet it became obvious to me that working in sustainability and climate change is how I want to contribute to that. Since then I have carried on to have a Master's degree and been committed to this industry so far.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Zevero?

There are constant discussions to build a world-class service and global team. There’s a lot of effort that goes into keeping everyone updated especially when there is so much going on all fronts -– platform, database, corporate development, and more. This has been consistent, and I really appreciate it.‍

Tell us a small thing that makes your day better

If I could join my favourite TRX training at 6:15 am without waking my kids up, that’s it. I need to get ready for my next Spartan race!

What’s your favourite quote?

The only way to do great work is to love what you do.

If you had to recommend one thing to read, watch or listen to, what would it be?

Podcasts. I would recommend ‘Feel Better, Live More’ by Dr Rangan Chatterjee and ‘TILclimate’ by MIT Environmental Solutions Initiative.

What was your first job?

My first job was tutoring a high schooler for Maths and English.

Where can we find you on a Sunday morning?

It can be anywhere from a gym, pool, park, aquarium, or science museum to any other places that my kids had in mind during the week! Yes, I am a boy mum -I have two boys: a 6-year-old and a 2-year-old. You could imagine my Sunday morning. It’s far from having a peaceful morning. It’s quite the opposite.

What would be your specialist Mastermind subject?

I always loved travelling and still dream of going to places I have not gotten to visit yet such as the Caribbean. My Mastermind subject would definitely be travel, skiing and snowboarding - those are some of my favourite activities.
